BIG SHOT PORTRAITS

Terms & Conditions

Effective from 1 October 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all Big Shot Portrait bookings.

The service is provided by Michael Sanchez trading as Mikey Sanchez Studio, a sole trader.

Big Shot Portraits is a photography project and service operated by Mikey Sanchez Studio.

In these Terms & Conditions, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Michael Sanchez trading as Mikey Sanchez Studio.

By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. THE BIG SHOT PORTRAIT

A Big Shot Portrait is made using:

• An original Polaroid Big Shot camera
• Expired Fuji FP-100C peel-apart instant film
• A vintage single-use Magicube flash

This is an analogue photographic process using materials that have been discontinued and are no longer manufactured.

The unpredictable nature of these materials is an intentional and fundamental part of the Big Shot Portrait experience.

2. PRICE

The current price is:

£120 per exposure

Price effective 1 October 2026.

Prices may be updated from time to time.

Any future price change will apply only to bookings made after the updated price has been published.

Once your booking has been confirmed and your deposit has been paid, the price for that booking is fixed and will not change.

3. WHAT YOUR £120 INCLUDES

Each £120 booking includes:

• One 30-minute Big Shot Portrait appointment
• One exposure of expired Fuji FP-100C film
• One vintage Magicube flash exposure
• The original physical peel-apart photograph produced from your exposure, regardless of the result
• One high-resolution digital scan of the photograph, delivered by email

The fee is charged per exposure.

It is not a fee for a guaranteed photographic result.

There is only one physical original from each exposure.

4. DEPOSIT & PAYMENT

A £50 deposit is required to secure your booking.

Your appointment is not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

The £50 deposit forms part of the £120 total price. It is not an additional charge.

The remaining £70 balance must be paid on the day of your appointment, before the exposure is made.

For clarity:

Total price: £120
Deposit when booking: £50
Remaining balance: £70

No exposure will be made until the amount due has been paid.

Any additional exposure must also be paid for before it is taken.

5. ONE EXPOSURE. NO RETAKES.

Each £120 booking includes one exposure only.

Only one photograph is taken for each purchased exposure.

Once the shutter has been released, the exposure is considered used.

Complimentary retakes are not provided because of:

• Facial expression
• Blinking or closed eyes
• Pose
• Hair
• Makeup
• Clothing
• Jewellery
• Glasses
• Personal preference
• Framing inherent to the Big Shot format
• Colour or tonal variation
• Chemical marks or streaks
• Uneven development
• Partial development
• Other characteristics resulting from expired film

If you would like another portrait, you may purchase another exposure for £120, subject to film availability and available session time.

6. ADDITIONAL EXPOSURES

If you decide during your appointment that you would like another portrait, an additional exposure may be available only if time permits.

Additional exposures are subject to:

• Available appointment time
• Remaining Fuji FP-100C film
• Magicube availability

If there is not enough time remaining in your appointment, another exposure will require a separate booking.

An additional exposure costs £120 and must be paid for before it is taken.

Every additional exposure is independently subject to these same Terms & Conditions, including the one-exposure, no-retake and expired-film provisions.

7. BOOKING MULTIPLE EXPOSURES

If you know in advance that you would like more than one portrait, you may book multiple consecutive appointment slots.

Each exposure is charged separately.

For example:

One exposure: £120
Two exposures: £240
Three exposures: £360

Booking consecutive slots is the best way to guarantee sufficient time for multiple portraits.

Each exposure is a separate analogue photograph and remains subject to the same expired-film risks.

8. YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH

You will receive the original physical Fuji FP-100C peel-apart photograph produced from your exposure.

There is only one physical original per exposure.

Your original photograph may be:

• Fully and successfully developed
• Affected by colour shifts
• Unevenly developed
• Marked by chemical artefacts
• Partially developed
• Very faint
• Significantly altered by deterioration of the film
• In rare cases, effectively unsuccessful as an image

Whatever the result, the physical photograph produced from your exposure is the original photograph included in your booking.

9. EXPIRED FUJI FP-100C FILM

Fuji FP-100C has been discontinued and is no longer manufactured.

All film used for Big Shot Portraits is expired.

Film stock is sourced from different sellers, collectors and suppliers.

Its complete storage history before acquisition cannot be verified.

Once acquired by Mikey Sanchez Studio, the film is kept in cold storage to help preserve it.

Cold storage cannot restore expired film or guarantee the condition of its chemicals.

The age and previous storage conditions of the film may affect the final photograph.

Possible results include, but are not limited to:

• Colour shifts
• Unusual colour casts
• Reduced or increased contrast
• Changes in saturation
• Chemical streaks
• Chemical marks
• Uneven development
• Areas of missing image
• Partial development
• Changes around the edges of the photograph
• Fading or deterioration
• A substantially or completely unsuccessful development

These are inherent risks of using expired Fuji FP-100C.

By booking, you acknowledge and accept these risks.

10. MAGICUBE FLASH

The Polaroid Big Shot was designed to be used with Magicube flash cubes.

Original Magicubes are discontinued, increasingly scarce and single-use.

A flash is consumed as part of each exposure.

Together with the expired FP-100C film, this means discontinued physical materials are permanently consumed every time an exposure is made, regardless of the final photographic result.

11. FILM RESULTS & RETAKES

Fuji FP-100C is expired and its final result cannot be guaranteed.

If an exposure is affected by the age or chemical condition of the film, including colour shifts, chemical marks, partial development or unsuccessful development, a complimentary retake is not normally provided.

Each booking is for one exposure using rare, discontinued film.

The possibility of an imperfect or unsuccessful result caused by the inherent condition of expired film forms part of the process you accept when booking.

If we are unable to provide the booked service as agreed for a reason unrelated to the inherent condition of the expired film, an appropriate remedy may be offered, such as:

• A replacement exposure
• Rescheduling
• A refund

The appropriate remedy will depend on the circumstances.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

12. THE BIG SHOT FORMAT

The Polaroid Big Shot was designed specifically for portraiture.

Big Shot Portraits are therefore predominantly close, head-and-shoulders portraits.

The camera has a fixed photographic format and shooting distance.

You should expect your portrait to follow this aesthetic rather than the composition or flexibility of a conventional portrait photography session.

The sitting is intentionally simple and minimally directed.

Booking a session means accepting this photographic style and format.

13. SESSION LENGTH

Each appointment is 30 minutes.

The appointment includes:

• Brief positioning
• Final appearance checks
• Making the exposure
• Developing the photograph
• Scanning the final image
• Emailing the digital scan

The exposure and development process usually takes approximately 5–7 minutes.

Scanning and emailing the photograph usually takes approximately 5 minutes.

The remaining time allows for positioning, final adjustments and the analogue process itself.

A 30-minute appointment does not mean multiple photographs will be taken.

Each £120 booking includes one exposure only.

14. ARRIVE CAMERA-READY

Please arrive fully ready to be photographed.

The studio does not have dedicated facilities or additional space for:

• Changing outfits
• Getting dressed
• Doing or changing makeup
• Styling hair
• Extended grooming or preparation

Please arrive wearing the outfit you intend to be photographed in, with your hair and makeup completed.

You will have a brief opportunity immediately before the exposure to make small final adjustments.

Before the exposure is made, please check your:

• Hair
• Makeup
• Clothing
• Jewellery
• Glasses
• General appearance

Once you confirm that you are ready and the exposure has been made, dissatisfaction with your personal appearance does not qualify for a complimentary retake.

15. GUESTS

Due to limited studio space, please attend alone unless agreed in advance.

If you require a parent, legal guardian, carer, interpreter or other essential accompanying person, please let us know before your appointment.

16. ARRIVAL & LATENESS

Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment.

Appointments run in fixed 30-minute slots, and other clients may be booked immediately before or after you.

Arriving late does not extend your appointment.

Your session will still finish at the originally scheduled time.

10–15 minutes late

If you arrive 10 minutes or more late, but no more than 15 minutes late, a £20 late fee will apply.

Only £30 of your original £50 deposit will therefore be credited towards the £120 booking price.

Your remaining balance will become:

£90

rather than the usual £70.

The appointment will still finish at the originally scheduled time.

More than 15 minutes late

If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, there will not be sufficient time to complete the portrait, development and scanning process properly.

The appointment will be treated as a no-show.

The session will not go ahead and your £50 deposit will be forfeited.

A new booking and new £50 deposit will be required if you wish to book another appointment.

17. CANCELLATIONS

You may cancel your booking up to 48 hours before your scheduled appointment and receive a full refund of your £50 deposit.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment are non-refundable.

In this situation, the £50 deposit will be retained.

The 48-hour deadline is calculated from the scheduled start time of your appointment.

18. RESCHEDULING

You may reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours before your scheduled appointment.

Your existing £50 deposit will be transferred to the new appointment.

Requests to reschedule less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment will result in the original £50 deposit being forfeited.

A new £50 deposit will be required to secure another appointment.

All replacement appointments are subject to studio-date and appointment availability.

19. NO-SHOWS

If you do not attend your appointment without cancelling or rescheduling within the required timeframe, your booking will be treated as a no-show.

Arriving more than 15 minutes late is also treated as a no-show.

Your £50 deposit will be forfeited.

If you wish to book another appointment, a new booking and £50 deposit will be required.

20. IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL

Occasionally, a session may need to be cancelled or postponed because of circumstances such as:

• Photographer illness or emergency
• Studio closure or loss of access
• Camera or equipment failure
• Insufficient usable materials
• Events outside our reasonable control

If this happens before your portrait has been taken, you will normally be offered:

• A replacement studio date; or
• A refund of any amount paid for the affected service

The appropriate option will depend on the circumstances.

21. DEVELOPMENT & HANDLING

Fuji FP-100C is peel-apart instant film and uses chemical developer as part of the photographic process.

The photograph will be handled by the photographer during development and peeling.

Freshly processed film may contain residual chemicals or moisture.

Please do not handle the photograph until you are advised that it is ready to be handled.

We will manage the initial development, peeling and handling of the photograph.

Please avoid touching any wet or chemically active areas.

Once appropriately processed and safe to handle, the original photograph will be given to you.

22. DIGITAL SCAN

Your original photograph will be scanned at high resolution.

Scanning and emailing the digital image usually takes approximately 5 minutes.

Where practical, your digital scan will be emailed to you during or immediately after your appointment.

Occasional technical delays may mean the scan is delivered later.

The scan is intended to represent the physical photograph faithfully.

Minor adjustments required for:

• Scanning
• Dust removal
• Accurate reproduction of the original photograph

may be made.

The distinctive analogue characteristics of the original photograph will not normally be digitally removed or reconstructed.

23. EDITING & RETOUCHING

Big Shot Portraits celebrates the physical characteristics of the original instant photograph.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise, the digital scan does not include:

• Beauty retouching
• Skin retouching
• Body or facial reshaping
• Compositing
• Removal of film characteristics
• Reconstruction of missing areas of the photograph

Chemical marks, colour shifts and other characteristics of the physical film may therefore remain visible in the final digital image.

24. CARE OF YOUR ORIGINAL

Fuji FP-100C is a physical photographic material and should be handled carefully.

Once the original photograph has been handed to you, responsibility for its storage and care passes to you.

Expired instant photographs may continue to change, fade or deteriorate over time.

Avoid prolonged exposure to:

• Direct sunlight
• Excessive heat
• Moisture
• High humidity

We cannot guarantee the long-term colour stability or physical condition of expired photographic material.

25. THE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH

The original physical photograph will normally be handed to you during your appointment once it is ready and safe to handle.

There is only one physical original.

No second physical copy of the original exists.

Please keep it somewhere safe.

Your high-resolution digital scan provides a digital reproduction of that original photograph.

26. PERSONAL USE

You may use your Big Shot Portrait for personal purposes, including:

• Personal social media
• Personal websites
• Profile photographs
• Personal printing

Copyright in the photograph remains with Michael Sanchez / Mikey Sanchez Studio, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Commercial use, including:

• Advertising
• Brand campaigns
• Commercial social media
• Merchandise
• Resale
• Commercial publication
• Licensing to third parties

requires prior written agreement.

27. USE OF YOUR IMAGE BY BIG SHOT PORTRAITS

Booking a portrait does not automatically give us permission to use your image for promotional purposes.

You may be offered a separate, optional consent choice allowing us to use your portrait in connection with Big Shot Portraits and Mikey Sanchez Studio, including:

• Instagram
• Websites
• Online portfolios
• Printed portfolios
• Exhibitions
• Press
• Editorial features
• Promotional materials

Promotional consent is optional.

Declining permission will not affect your booking or the service you receive.

Where consent is requested online, it will be presented separately from your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

28. AGE POLICY

You must be 18 years or older to make your own booking.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have their booking made or authorised by a parent or legal guardian.

A parent or legal guardian must attend the session with a client who is under 18.

Any permission for promotional use of a photograph featuring someone under 18 must be obtained separately from their parent or legal guardian.

29. CONDUCT

We reserve the right to refuse or stop a session where there is threatening, abusive, discriminatory, dangerous or otherwise inappropriate behaviour towards the photographer, studio staff, other clients or anyone else present.

Any cancellation or refund decision in these circumstances will depend on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights.

30. PERSONAL PROPERTY

Please look after your belongings while attending the studio.

We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal property except where responsibility arises under applicable law.

31. LIABILITY & CONSUMER RIGHTS

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

The explanation of expired-film risk relates specifically to the inherent unpredictability of discontinued Fuji FP-100C.

It does not remove our obligation to provide the booked service with reasonable care and skill.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

32. CHANGES TO PRICES

The current price of £120 per exposure applies from 1 October 2026.

Prices may change for future bookings without individual advance notice.

Any updated price will be displayed before a new booking is made.

A price change will not affect an existing confirmed booking.

Once your £50 deposit has been accepted, the £120 price for that booking is fixed.

33. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time.

The version applicable to your booking is the version presented or linked to you when the booking is made.

Changes made after your booking will not retrospectively alter the agreed terms of that booking unless required by law or agreed with you.
